Julep Maven July 2013

Hello again! I have a little story and a thank you for you all....

So recently I had contacted Julep about my June jules not being there, and when I got a response I was told that some of my referrals had went through as well and when I checked, well let's just say I can get a few boxes now. I was going to have to cancel Julep due to financial problems, but now I can keep Julep for free for at least two more months. I thank you all who used my referral link, I'm not going to go into details but you will never know how much you made my day/week/month. So again, thank you.

Enough rambling, here is what I got this month from Julep. I also picked three add-ons because I had enough Jules to cover it and really couldn't decided which 'style' I wanted. 

I chose the Bombshell box which included the Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil, Blakely and Joanna.

As my add-ons I chose, Tracy, Angela and America the Beautiful.

Beach Tonic Dry Body Oil - "A blend of lightweight yet nourishing oils that moisturize, condition, and restore elasticity and suppleness to the body. Absorbs instantly and leaves a satin finish without a greasy residue. Treatment mist contains a blend of cotton seed oil, rich in cell nourishing vitamin E, and sunflower oil- for deep conditioning and softening of even the driest skin."  
Oh My God! Can I say how much I love this spray? I tried it as soon as I got it and I was like "THEY LIE IT IS GREASY!" But then I read the card (duh) and saw you are supposed to use it on damp skin after a shower. So I took my shower and then tried it again and I was in oil heaven. It doesn't absorb super quickly but quick enough that if you start at your legs they are dry but the time you are at your shoulders. I will be using this regularly unless it decides to break me out or something then in the trade or trash it goes.

I decided to opt for America the Beautiful instead of Fireworks because Fireworks is a glitter topcoat type of polish where America the Beautiful could work as a polish on it's on, with a few coats, or over another polish for a more opaque nail.
I plan on pairing Tracy, America the Beautiful and a red from my collection for the Fourth of July.

Starlooks Starbox June 2013

Hello all! 

I signed up for Starlook's Starbox in May but had missed the deadline, so I just received my first box! I got the June box, which was their self proclaimed anniversary box. For all the hype it was a major let down. I have looked at a lot of the previous boxes and that was what really pushed me to try this subscription box. I was extremely disappointed and really hope July is better, if not I will not be continuing to receive Starlook's Starbox. Hopefully it's easy to cancel.

Anyways, here is what was sent out. (Swatches included)

As I said above I was quite disappointed but I have been wanting to try my hand at bronzing so I guess that's a plus. The products they sent were awesome don't get me wrong, I guess I was just expecting more. Also, I could really do without the pin. The Precision Eye Pen is amazing, it really is what they say, precise. I can get a super thin line directly above my lash line, so thin in fact that it just makes my lashes look super thick. I love it. I tried the white eyeliner in my waterline and didn't think it looked too good so I will be using it as a base for lighter eyeshadows, like the UD moondust shadow I got from Ipsy. As for the bronzer I haven't actually tried it on my face yet because I am currently breaking out, and I want to start with clear skin so I can make sure if I break out I know it's from the bronzer... and not mother nature *cough*. As for the peace sign pin, I might as well just toss it because I don't think I know anyone who would want it or it would go in my "random gift" box. Poo, I hate throwing things away.
Please wow me next month starlooks, I really want to love you, I realllllyyyy do. But with boxes like this month I can't justify spending almost $20 on Starbox. I could go to the drugstore and get a bronzer and two eyeliners for less. That is my reasoning for cancelling if July isn't better. 
I would suggest trying Starlooks Starbox only because their products are actually quite good.
Ipsy is still my favorite subscription due to price and the products they send out because I am guaranteed to love at least 3 out of 5 which is a win.

Here is the leaked instragram picture, the image was sent to Zadidoll from a source who wants to remain anonymous and I am just posting the image here for you to see. I am just assuming that bag will just be one of the possible bag variations as it does not have either hair products in it but does have the scrub, a roll on perfume and nailtini nail polish along with the benetint. I am also going to assume we are all not getting the benetint since as you can see there are six items in the instagram leaked picture. So sorry LOYAL IPSTERS, only the newbies will probably be getting the benetint. BOOOOO IPSY.

Good luck to all on getting the variations you want! Ipsy Gods, I beg you, please less variations. It is starting to feel like they are not receiving enough samples for all the subscribers and that's why they have to only give them to so many people. Or maybe they have too many contracts and have to get the stuff out in a certain amount of months? We have gotten Nailtini polish before and the Demeter perfume has shown it's face in a previous bag as well. I'm pretty sure we have gotten something from benefit before as well.

June 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag AND Popsugar Must Have June 2013

Okay, before I even start this post I want to apologize for being so late on reviewing my bags this month. I decided I want to start using the products and testing them for a few days before writing any type of review on here so I can give you guys a better opinion of the product. 

I feel like I'm kind of talking to myself since I only have 1 follower, so please follow me if you visit my blog frequently (which I know some of you do from my views (; ) so I don't feel like such a derp. haha.  

Anyways, originally I received two duplicate bags with some variation. My first bag contained a Nyx powder blush in silky rose, Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in Iron, Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter, Starlooks Lip Liner in Bare and the J Cat's Glitter Palette in Volta. My second bag contained the mosaic blush in Dare, Starlooks Lip Liner in Tickle Me Pink, Cailyn Gel Eyeliner in Purple, Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter and J Cat's Glitter Palette in Volta again.

I traded the powder blush, and one of the highlighters and gave my mother in law the mosaic blush because it will match her skin tone better than mine so there will be no pictures of those. She traded me her J Cat False lashes for my highlighter and I traded my blush for a mosaic blush in Truth, which I will be using as a bronzer.

So I ended up with two J Cat's Glitter Palettes in Volta J Cat's False Lashes in EL79, a Nyx Mosaic Blush in Truth, Cailyn Gel Eyeliners in Iron and Purple, Chella Ivory Lace Highlighter and Starlooks Lip Liners in Bare and Tickle Me Pink. I also got the bauble bar bracelet because I referred two people. :)

Now here is the Popsugar June box. It contained Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns by Lauren Weisberger, Fit Popcorn Parmesan and Herb , Project 7 Quench the Thirsty Wintergreen Mints, Gorjana & Griffin Zuma Scarf, Addicted to Sweat Jaw Breaker Chair Dripping Wet Workout DVD, A Gorjana&Griffin $25 Gift Card, Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Repair Moisturizer and two CC Cream Samples from Juice Beauty in Warm Glow and Natural Glow (.17 oz each).

The only things I've managed to try are the Moisturizer, CC Cream, Mints, Popcorn and I checked out the scarf but it's too hot here for scarfs.

The scarf will be put away for Fall for sure, but it is beautiful and soft, I just wish I could use my gift card, oh wait I can't because it comes up as the wrong number or expired card, so I'm just chalking that up to a loss.

The mints are awesome, but I find I have to eat more than one to really get a fresh taste in my mouth.

The popcorn tasted funny, and wasn't something I would repurchase.

I use the Juice Beauty Moisturizer daily and love it so far, at first the Pledge-like smell threw me off but I got used to it fast and it's now my favorite. I'm worried that once it gets close to empty I won't be able to use the end of the container because I can't figure out to open it. (it has a pump lid so there's no germy finger dipping going on.) If anyone knows how to open it please let me know. I will probably take the plunge and buy more of this along with a wash or something with the coupon code included in the box.

I tried both the CC Cream samples and I find they leave my face feeling sticky and greasy and that is not something I like considering I already have oily skin. I will play around with these but doubtfully will repurchase.

The workout DVD might get used if I ever have the time, with a toddler running around I get plenty of exercise but I'm sure I could use a good workout to lose the extra few pounds of baby weight.

Lastly, the book. I have read reviews saying that this book has a main character who is whiney and annoying and I really don't want to read a book that will get on my nerves but I will give this book a try once I get a chance. I just finished a book so I could use one just to read in my free time/baby naptime/downtime. Ha ha. 

Anyways, I enjoyed this box and am super excited for July which is the anniversary box! Fingers crossed for a good one.

Something Blue VoxBox

That's right, I finally qualified for a VoxBox! I received the Something Blue VoxBox and I have to say WOW. I am in love. Here is a picture of all I got to try out for free. That's right, completely free ;)

I'm going to start with talking about the Luster Now! toothpaste. I have used it twice so far and it really does whiten instantly. It might not be a lot but it is enough to be noticeable. It tastes nice and not overly minty like some toothpastes, I will defiantly be repurchasing this toothpaste. 

Second in the box are two travel packs of Precision Tip Qtips. I have tried these in the past and like them, they are perfect for touching up makeup. Like that smudged eyeliner or mascara that gets anywhere except on the eyelashes. These are perfect for in my travel makeup bag or diaper bag.

Third, two packs of Kiss Ever EZ False Lashes. Four pairs all together. Each pack comes with glue and an applicator. I haven't tried these yet because I don't wear false eyelashes daily but I did open the package and feel them, they are soft and could pass as natural eyelashes if applied correctly.

Fourth, Dr. Scholl's for her Ball of Foot Cushion. Like above with the Falsies I don't wear heels very often so it might be a while before I try these out but they will be necessary on my wedding day, that's for sure.

Included was a packet of Urgent RX Headache Relief to go, I'm going to save this for my Fiance' to try since he gets headaches frequently. I've been told these are quite good and work efficiently though.

Last is a coupon for 65% off on MyTrioRings, They have some pricey rings and my Fiance' and my rings are already purchased so I doubt I will use this discount code.

I am extremely happy with this VoxBox and considering it was free it really is amazing. I can not wait to try another VoxBox out and review it for them.

Julep Maven and Beauty Army June 2013

I'm going to post a double review tonight, well, because I have some time to kill. 

I recently got my Julep Maven June box, Beauty Army box and Influenster VoxBox but the last one will be a separate post.

Let's jump right in. First is the Julep box, I chose Boho Glam which contained the DD creme', Dianna and Lexie.

I swatched the DD creme' and was kind of disappointed but when I actually put it on my face it blended well and didn't appear as orange as it did on my hand. I actually couldn't see it on my face at all. It has very little coverage so I do not recommend it for anyone looking for coverage. 

After all the commotion of the June box and all the complaints Julep stated they would not be making anymore DD creme'. Shame, cause I actually would buy it as a light summer makeup.

Swatch of Dianna. It looks similar to a lot of other seafoam green/mint colors from Julep but I do like it. My favorite colors from Julep to date are Coco and Gabrielle.

I did not swatch Lexie because I haven't decided if I want to take the plastic off and keep it or add it to my swap list. 

Julep is slowly becoming one of my least favorite subs and I think I may start skipping or just cancel all together. 

Now onto the Beauty Army box. This month they announced a new gel liner available.

Here are my choices:

As you can see there are only 5 pictured above because I forgot to add the 6th back in for the picture.

My choices were Immuno-Viva Sunset Tea (2 tea bags), TheraBreath Mouthwash and Lozenges, Lash Cards, Addiction NV Gel Liner pot in Starstruck (Silver), Mini kittour 100ml Travel Bottle and the $25 iTrain gift card.

Picture below is the swatch of the Gel Liner. It goes on amazingly smooth and is almost the consistency of a cream eyeshadow when applying, but once it dries it is not moving. The swatch I put on my hand would not come off for the life of me haha.

Last month I had actually skipped Beauty Army due to lack of interesting samples, or any good ones that did come up I had already tried and didn't want to try them again. This month really got me back into my love for Beauty Army, especially once I learned that they can help through email if you can't get all the samples you want to come up. I will be sticking with Beauty Army for a while, especially considering I can just skip if necessary. 

I highly recommend trying Beauty Army and if not at least try Addiction NV Gel Liners!

Ipsy June 2013 SPOILERS

Apparently the Ipsy gods have listened to us over at Makeuptalk.com because they released two spoilers extremely early. One was via facebook and the other was in an email to get people to resubscribe. Looks to be a promising month yet again! But also a lot of variation already just with the one item they revealed.

Popsugar Must Have May 2013

After a long week of waiting for my Popsugar box to get here, it finally arrived. 

I opened it like a kid on Christmas morning while my fiance' laughed at me. Finally when I turned to him with a sad face he asked what I was looking for. 

"The clutch" I said, and pouted. I didn't get one. But life goes on. 

So here is what I did get.

Great box! Great job popsugar, you really redeemed yourself after last month. I must say I am extremely happy with this box. I'm not sure if I will wear the hat because it's not an everyday hat, but I'm the type of woman to wear a hat like this to go fishing, haha.

As you can see I did not get the hat in black, but graphite. It fits my big melon head pretty well. 

Kooriginal Giselle Mid Brim Hat - Value: $27.99

I haven't tried these chips yet because I am saving them for my fiance' but from what I hear they are delicious.

I guess Pacifica partnered up with Popsugar this month, as well as Ipsy.

I didn't get the lotion in my Ipsy bag so I placed an order straight through Pacifica and got a free Sugared Fig Color Quench Lip Tint, so now I have two. :p I will probably gift the second to my mother in law because I rarely finish anything lip related, other than plain chapstick.

This Color Quench is very hydrating and goes on pretty sheer, the swatch below was quite a few swipes.

Beauty Blender and cleanser, ahhh. I have been lusting after this for a while now, ever since I saw a beauty guru using one on youtube and her foundation came out flawless. I haven't even taken it out of the bubble wrap yet, afraid I could damage the precious sponge haha. I can't wait to use this, even if it is with some BB cream. 

BeautyBlender set - Value: $23.95

I opened this and looked at two of the cards, this seems like it would be better in book form. The two I did read were interesting and held my attention so one night I think me and the girls will have to get together and read these, and drink what's next ;)

These! haha, yes we will be reading the cards and drinking margaritas. My fiance' immediately grabbed these little suckers when I was done pouting. He opened it all up and examined it. I asked him if he wanted it and he said no but I could tell he wanted them anyways. So maybe it will be a Mommy and Daddy night and we can drink these. Either way they will be a good time tasting and being adventurous for once.

The Modern Cocktail set- Value: $8.29

There was also a white Popsugar tote and a $30 gift card to Charm and Chain that I will most likely use sometime soon, but it does not expire for a while so no rush there. :)
